VTK Export for SketchUp - Vizualization Toolkit VTK file export plug-in
for SketchUp
VTK Export
for SketchUp is a Visualization
Toolkit (.vtk) file export plug-in for SketchUp®. This plug-in gives
SketchUp the ability to export objects from SketchUp to ASCII and Binary VTK files.
VTK Export for SketchUp
tessellates objects in a SketchUp document into a set of triangular meshes. These meshes are then exported to a VTK file as mesh objects. The VTK file can then be imported into a variety of CAD applications.
VTK Export for SketchUp
is very easy to use. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into
SketchUp and adds a new submenu called "VTK Export for SketchUp" to
the SketchUp Plugins menu containing these newly added commands.
VTK Export for
SketchUp comes with detailed documentation as well as a
tutorial to get you started in
the shortest possible time.

The
Visualization ToolKit (VTK) is an open source, freely available software
system for 3D computer graphics, image processing, and visualization
used by thousands of researchers and developers around the world. VTK
consists of a C++ class library, and several interpreted interface
layers including Tcl/Tk, Java, and Python. The Toolkit stores geometric
data in a file format known as VTK. Very few CAD applications have the
ability to read and write VTK files.
