VTK Export for Rhino is a Visualization Toolkit VTK file export plug-in for Rhinoceros. This plug-in gives Rhinoceros the ability to export geometric data from Rhinoceros to ASCII and Binary VTK files.

VTK Export for Rhino extracts facet data from solids, surfaces and meshes in the active Rhino model and exports them to polygon mesh objects in a  VTK file.

VTK Export for Rhino is very easy to use. It adds new commands to Rhinoceros. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Rhinoceros and adds a new submenu called "VTKExport" to the Rhinoceros menu containing the newly added commands.

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Installation & Usage

Since VTK Export for Rhino is a plug-in for Rhinoceros, it must be loaded into the Rhinoceros environment before it can be used. Please follow the simple instructions in the VTK Export for Rhino ReadMe document which is copied into the installation folder. After you have loaded the plug-in file into Rhinoceros, simply click on the ribbon bar in Rhinoceros called "VTKExport" to run these new commands. Truly, software made simple!

The VTK File Format

The Visualization ToolKit (VTK) is an open source, freely available software system for 3D computer graphics, image processing, and visualization used by thousands of researchers and developers around the world.
