STEP Import for Bricscad is a STEP file import plug-in for Bricscad® powered application. This plug-in gives Bricscad the ability to import geometric data from STEP files.

The STEP file format is widely used to exchange 3D data between different CAD systems. STEP files contain 3D geometry data of solid models. STEP Import for Bricscad reads the 3D geometry data from STEP files and creates 3D curve objects corresponding to each edge in the solid model. These 3D curves are added to the current Bricscad drawing, thereby yielding the wireframe geometry of the solid in the STEP file.

STEP Import for Bricscad is very easy to use. Once installed, it must be loaded into the Bricscad environment. Follow the simple instructions in the ReadMe document which can be found in the installation folder. Once loaded it adds new commands to Bricscad's existing commands and a new submenu called "STEPImport" to the Bricscad menu containing these newly added commands.

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Installation & Usage

Since STEP Import for Bricscad is a plug-in for Bricscad powered applications, it must be loaded into the application's environment before it can be used. The STEP File Format

ISO 10303 is an ISO standard for the computer-interpretable representation and exchange of industrial product data. Its official title is Industrial automation systems and integration - Product data representation and exchange, and it is also known as STEP or the Standard for the Exchange of Product model data.
