STEP Import for AutoCAD is a STEP file import plug-in for AutoCAD. This plug-in gives AutoCAD the ability to import geometric data from STEP files. STEP is a neutral file format which is widely used to exchange 2D and 3D data between various CAD systems. STEP Import for AutoCAD reads 2D and 3D geometry stored in STEP files and creates corresponding 2D and 3D objects in the active AutoCAD drawing.

STEP Import for AutoCAD is powered by the widely used 3D InterOp technology from Spatial. 3D InterOp is the industry standard for proprietary and neutral CAD file format data exchange and is used in almost all the major CAD systems. Besides data exchange 3D InterOp also offers powerful repairing and healing features which are extensively used in STEP Import for AutoCAD. Repairing involves checking the file for corrupted data and fixing the invalid data. Healing corrects the differences in precision. STEP Import for AutoCAD also creates a detailed log file which is extremely useful in identifying data translation problems and aids in locating and fixing errors.

STEP Import for AutoCAD can read STEP AP203 and AP214 (Geometry Only).

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Installation & Usage

Since STEP Import for AutoCAD is a plug-in for AutoCAD, it must be loaded into the AutoCAD environment before it can be used. Please follow the simple instructions in the STEP Import for AutoCAD ReadMe document which is copied into the installation folder. After you have loaded the plug-in file into AutoCAD, simply click on the menu items in the "STEPImport" submenu or type "STEPImport" (without quotes) at the AutoCAD command prompt and press "Enter".
