SKP Import for Alibre Design is a SketchUp SKP file import add-on for Alibre Design®. This add-on gives Alibre Design the ability to import geometric data from SketchUp SKP files.

SKP Import for Alibre Design reads polygon mesh data stored in SKP files and imports it into Alibre Design. A polygon mesh in a SKP file is comprised of a set of triangular or quad faces. SKP Import for Alibre Design recreates the SKP model data as a new solid in Alibre Design.

SKP Import for Alibre Design is very easy to use. It adds new commands to Alibre Design. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Alibre Design and adds a new submenu called "SKPImport" to the Alibre Design menu containing these new commands.

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Installation & Usage

Since SKP Import for Alibre Design is an add-on for Alibre Design, it must be loaded into the Alibre Design environment before it can be used. Please follow the simple instructions in the SKP Import for Alibre Design ReadMe document which is copied into the installation folder. After you have loaded the add-on file into Alibre Design, Simply click on the menu items in the "SKPImport" submenu to run these new commands. Truly, software made simple!

The SKP File Format

SketchUp is a 3D modeling program designed for architects, civil engineers, filmmakers, game developers, and related professions. It also includes features to facilitate the placement of models in Google Earth. It is marketed as an easy-to-use conceptual tool with a simple interface. A well known feature in the SketchUp World is the 3D Warehouse. Users can use their Google Accounts to upload models, and then browse the 3D Warehouse for many components and models. SketchUp's native file format is has a SKP extension.
