PLT Import for Rhino is a HPGL Plot (.plt) file import plug-in for Rhinoceros. This plug-in gives Rhino the ability to import pen movements from HPGL Plot files.

PLT Import for Rhino reads pen movement data stored PLT files and imports it into Rhino. A HPGL PLT file is comprised of a set of instructions related to pen movements of HPGL plotters. PLT Import for Rhino reads these pen movement instructions and creates curve objects in the active Rhino drawing.

PLT Import for Rhino is designed to be extremely user friendly and easy to understand. It adds new commands to Rhino and also a new submenu called "PLTImport" which houses these commands.

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Installation & Usage

Since PLT Import for Rhino is a plug-in, it is very easy to use. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into the Rhino environment. If automatic loading fails there are manual loading instructions in the ReadMe file. Once loaded it adds new commands to Rhino's existing commands and a new submenu called "PLTImport" to the Rhino menu containing these newly added commands. Truly, software made simple!

HPGL is the Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language designed for specifying 2D graphical information for the HP range of plotters. It was not intended as an interchange format but some software suppliers use it as such. HPGL is a command set embedded in the ROM of pen plotters to help reduce the work required by applications programmers to create plotted output. HPGL uses two-letter mnemonics as instructions for drawing lines, circles, text, and simple symbols. HPGL is the primary printer control language used by Hewlett-Packard plotters. It later became a standard for almost all plotters.
