PIX Import for Rhino - Dr. Picza file import plug-in for Rhinoceros

PIX Import for Rhino is a Dr. Picza (.pix) file import plug-in for Rhinoceros. This plug-in gives Rhino the ability to import geometric data from ASCII and Binary PIX files.

PIX Import for Rhino reads surface and polygon mesh data stored in PIX files and imports it into Rhino. If the PIX file contains a scan of a surface, PIX Import for Rhino can recreate the surface as a single nurbs surface or sets of nurbs curves, polylines or lines describing the isocurves or even a set of node points. If the PIX file contains the scan information in the form of a polygon mesh, PIX Import for Rhino recreates the mesh model inside the active Rhino drawing. The mesh can be recreated as set of points, lines, faces or a polygon mesh.

PIX Import for Rhino is designed to be extremely user friendly and easy to understand. It adds new commands to Rhino and also a new submenu called "PIXImport" which houses these commands.

IMPORTANT! Purchasing a Subscription is highly recommended since it the most cost effective way of keeping your software up to date. Moreover, Subscription entitles you to get a second free perpetual license for your laptop, among many other benefits. For details please read the SYCODE License and Subscription Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Note: Downloading this software indicates your acceptance to the SYCODE Software License Agreement. The price mentioned above is for a single user license. For your bulk-licensing needs please contact us.

The PIX File Format

The PIX file format is the native file format of a digitizer software called Dr. Picza which comes bundled with Roland DG digitizers. The digitizer scans an object and transfers the 3D point data to the Dr. Picza software which saves it in the PIX file format. PIX files can contain scan data in two formats: surface and polygon mesh. The surface format is used when the top surface of an object is being digitized, whereas the polygon mesh format is used when the entire surface of an object is being digitized.
