OBJ Import for Alibre Design is a Wavefront OBJ file import add-on for Alibre Design®. This add-on gives Alibre Design the ability to import mesh data from Wavefront OBJ files.

OBJ Import for Alibre Design reads polygon mesh data stored in Wavefront OBJ files and imports it into Alibre Design. A polygon mesh in a OBJ file is comprised of a set of triangular faces. OBJ Import for Alibre Design creates trimmed planar surfaces for each triangle and knits them together to create a solid body.

OBJ Import for Alibre Design is very easy to use. It adds new commands to Alibre Design. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Alibre Design and adds a new submenu called "OBJImport" to the Alibre Design menu containing these newly added commands.

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Installation & Usage

Since OBJ Import for Alibre Design is an add-on for Alibre Design, it must be loaded into the Alibre Design environment before it can be used. Please follow the simple instructions in the OBJ Import for Alibre Design ReadMe document which is copied into the installation folder. After you have loaded the add-on file into Alibre Design, Simply click on the menu items in the "OBJImport" submenu to run these new commands. Truly, software made simple!

The OBJ File Format

The OBJ file format is a geometry definition file format first developed by Wavefront Technologies for its Advanced Visualizer animation package. The file format is open and has been adopted by other 3D graphics application vendors, making it a universally accepted geometry file format. The OBJ file format is a simple data format that represents 3D geometry alone - namely, the position of each vertex, the texture coordinate associated with a vertex, the normal at each vertex, and the faces that make each polygon.
