OBJ Export for Solid Edge is a Wavefront (.obj) file export add-in for Solid Edge®. This add-in gives Solid Edge the ability to export 3D solid and surface data from a Solid Edge part or assembly document to 3D polygon meshes in an OBJ file.

OBJ Export for Solid Edge tessellates solid bodies in a Solid Edge document into a set of triangular meshes. These meshes are then exported to an OBJ file as mesh objects. The OBJ file can then be imported into a variety of CAD applications.

OBJ Export for Solid Edge is very easy to use. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Solid Edge and adds a new submenu called "OBJ Export for Solid Edge" to the Solid Edge Applications menu containing these newly added commands.

Our licenses are single computer licenses and are locked to each computer they are installed on. Basically, the license key is specific to the computer's Host ID (the MAC address of the computer), and will not work on another computer. The installer picks up the physical MAC address of the network card connected to the computer which is basically “Ethernet adapter Network Connect Adapter”. So unless you change your network card, the key will always work even if you reinstall your operating system. If your internal network is periodically assigning a different Host ID to your computer, then please find a solution for this with your IT department.

Installation & Usage

Since OBJ Export for Solid Edge is an add-in for Solid Edge, it must be loaded into the Solid Edge environment before it can be used. Please follow the simple instructions in the OBJ Export for Solid Edge ReadMe document which is copied into the installation folder. After you have loaded the add-in file into Solid Edge, simply click on the menu items in the "OBJ Export for Solid Edge" submenu to run these new commands. Truly, software made simple!

The OBJ file format is a geometry definition file format first developed by Wavefront Technologies for its Advanced Visualizer animation package. The file format is open and has been adopted by other 3D graphics application vendors, making it a universally accepted geometry file format. The OBJ file format is a simple data format that represents 3D geometry alone - namely, the position of each vertex, the texture coordinate associated with a vertex, the normal at each vertex, and the faces that make each polygon.
