MeshCAD for Rhino - Mesh creation, editing and modeling plug-in for Rhinoceros

     Menu Button

      MeshCAD > Modeling > Reduce
     Command       MCReduceMesh

This command reduces the number of faces in a mesh while forming a good approximation of the original geometry. The extent of reduction is determined by the feature angle. Larger the feature angle, more the reduction and lesser is the number of faces in the reduced mesh.

To reduce a mesh
1. At the Select mesh (FeatureAngle) prompt, select the mesh to reduce.

Fig.A shows a mesh with 69451 faces.

Fig.B shows the same mesh after reduction with Feature Angle=10. Reduced mesh from
69451 faces to 14881 faces.[78% reduction]

Note:
·  A high value for feature angle can distort the mesh and lead to boundary edges.
