3DM Export for Alibre Design is an Rhinoceros 3DM file export add-on for Alibre Design®. This add-on gives Alibre Design the ability to export 3D solid and surface data from a Alibre Design part and assembly document to polygon meshes in a Rhinoceros 3DM file.

3DM Export for Alibre Design tessellates the solid bodies in a Alibre Design part or assembly document into individual triangular meshes. These meshes are then exported to a Rhinoceros 3DM file as polyface mesh objects.

3DM Export for Alibre Design is very easy to use. Once installed, it automatically loads itself into Alibre Design and adds a new submenu called "3DMExport" to the Alibre Design menu.

Installation & Usage

Since 3DM Export for Alibre Design is an add-on for Alibre Design, it must be loaded into the Alibre Design environment before it can be used. Please follow the simple instructions in the 3DM Export for Alibre Design ReadMe document which is copied into the installation folder. After you have loaded the add-on file into Alibre Design, Simply click on the menu items in the "3DMExport" submenu to run these new commands. Truly, Software made simple!

The 3DM (3D Model) file format is the native file format of Rhinoceros, the NURBS modeling software from Robert McNeel & Associates. The OpenNURBS Initiative was founded by Robert McNeel & Associates in January 2000, with the sole purpose of providing CAD, CAM, CAE and computer graphics software users reliable methods for transferring 3D geometry between applications via the 3DM file format. TerrainCAD, our terrain generation, editing and modeling software, also uses the 3DM file format as its native file format.
