The five plug-ins are: STL Import for IntelliCAD OBJ Import for IntelliCAD HPGL Import for IntelliCAD NC Import for IntelliCAD Points Import for IntelliCAD "The user base of IntelliCAD powered applications is fast growing as IntelliCAD technology gains wider acceptance”, explains Deelip Menezes, owner of SYCODE. “However, the ability of these applications to exchange data is largely limited to the DWG and DXF file formats. There is a need to give these applications the ability to read and write other file formats as well. We have made an attempt to fulfill this need with these five file import plug-ins. We are in the process of developing and testing file export plug-ins for IntelliCAD powered applications and will be launching them shortly. We believe that these file import and export plug-ins will help create a smoother workflow between IntelliCAD powered applications and other CAD systems.” The file import plug-ins are briefly described below: STL Import for IntelliCAD The STL file format is the Rapid Prototyping industry's standard data transmission format and is the format required to interact with stereolithography machines. Stereolithography files contain solids which are made up of 3 sided facets. STL Import for IntelliCAD converts these facets into a single PolyFace Mesh entity and adds it to the active drawing. OBJ Import for IntelliCAD Alias is the world's leading innovator of 2D/3D graphics technology for the film, video, games, interactive media, industrial design, automotive industry and visualization markets. Their OBJ ASCII file format is widely accepted the world over for exchanging data between CAD applications. OBJ files contain objects which are made up of groups of 3 or 4 sided faces. OBJ Import for IntelliCAD converts these groups of faces into PolyFace Mesh entities and adds them to the active drawing.. HPGL Import for IntelliCAD HPGL is the Hewlett Packard Graphics Language designed for specifying 2D graphical information for the HP range of plotters. HPGL is a command set embedded in the ROM of pen plotters to help reduce the work required by applications programmers to create plotted output. HPGL plot files contain information regarding the movement of the pen of the HP plotter. HPGL Import for IntelliCAD converts these pen movements into corresponding entities and adds them to the active drawing. NC Import for IntelliCAD CNC Machines worldwide use Numeric Control files to convert programmed instructions to tool movement. NC programs consist of a sequence of codes with parameter data to arrive at a precise description of the toolpath. NC Import for IntelliCAD reads NC program files and recreates the toolpath in 3D. NC Import for IntelliCAD converts the commands in NC files into corresponding line, arc or circle entities and adds them to the active drawing. Points Import for IntelliCAD Point data is commonly stored in plain text file as a series of x, y and z coordinates, separated by a comma, space, tab, semicolon or a custom separator. These text files may also contain other information about the points such as point number and point descriptions. Moreover, points from a survey may be stored in the Northing, Easting, Elevation format. Points Import for IntelliCAD extracts the point information from text files and creates point entities in the active drawing.
