Item 1: Crater

Author SYCODE Product Testing Team
Description The terrain mesh of this crater was reconstructed using point data from a geological survey. The surface was described by 4,993 points. It took only 0.75 seconds to create the terrain mesh. The terrain mesh has 4,993 vertices and 9,822 triangular faces.

Item 2: Moon Surface

Author SYCODE Product Testing Team
Description Figure (a) shows 1,413 points describing a road in a hilly area. Towards the center of the image, notice that the number of points describing the road is much lesser as compared to the points towards the top of the image.

Figure (b) shows a terrain mesh containing 2,785 faces. Notice that the road towards the center of the image is not accurate since some points are joined to points at the bottom of the road fill slope.

Figure (c) shows 12 breaklines added along the direction of the road.

Figure (d) shows a much better terrain mesh which respects the 12 breaklines.

Item 3: 2.2 Million Points

Author Paul Buckland
Description This is live data from a project wherein TerrainCAD successfully created a mesh from 2.2 million points. The mesh was exported to a STL file and later imported into 3DS Max for further processing.
